Windsor and Maidenhead - Cycle Routes

Originally a bid submission for £761,000 was made to the Department for Transport (DfT) for the implementation of five schemes across the borough. Unfortunately, despite the Council's efforts, our bid was only partly successful which means that not all parts of the original scheme are able to be taken forward at present, including a proposal for a segregated cycle route. Despite this, we would still like your feedback on these proposals for any future funding opportunities that arise.

The council arrived at the proposals outlined below by reviewing potential schemes with a prioritisation process based on the Rapid Cycle Prioritisation Tool, the Propensity to Cycle Tool (or PCT - both commuting and school layers), the Local Cycling Action Plan 2018, and local knowledge derived from discussions with local cycling groups and residents’ input. Consideration was also given to highways schemes already in the pipeline to ensure these proposals complement any planned council projects.

Proposals that are currently unable to be progressed within this scheme are:

  • 1.2km South-West to North-East Maidenhead segregated cycle route
  • Dedworth Road segregated cycle route

Please click here to see a map of the proposed routes.
