Why are these changes being proposed?

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is proposing changes to Castle Hill and St Albans Street to expand the pedestrian space, making the area more pleasant and safer for visitors during the busiest times of the day. In addition this will support local businesses by encouraging visitors to spend more time in the town centre, as well as enhancing the look and feel of the area to improve the overall visitor experience.

Changes need to be made in the area, but we want these changes to work for the people who live and work there.

How would this work being funded?

The Berkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is providing £1.55m in funding, with an additional £850k from the council.

Are these changes definitely going ahead?

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead believes that the implementation of these proposals will truly benefit the area and would like to pursue these plans, pending feedback received via the engagement with the local residents and businesses.

Will the wayfinding improvements direct people into the town?

Yes, the improved wayfinding will be designed to lead visitors through the town, increasing footfall to local businesses and giving visitors a more interesting and enriched experience of Windsor.
